Chairs I would like to own someday

Hans J Wegner for Carl Hansen and Søn

You could say I’m a fan of the late Hans J Wegner and his work for Carl Hansen and Søn.

CH07 Shell Chair

This was the first chair of Wegner’s that I stumbled across. It’s a low angled lounge chair with big mid-century modern vibes.

CH71 Lounge Chair

This chair was designed in 1952 but has a timeliness vibe to it. The lines are modern without being specificly mid-century which means it should fit will with just about any kind of décor. I’m a big fan of the gray fabric.

CH24 Wishbone Chair

The CH24 is just classic. I’ve seen it used as both dining room chairs and side chairs. It is light but sturdy and available in a number of finishes. It is an iconic symbol of Danish design.

Charles and Ray Eames

The Eames Lounge Chair

I remember the first time I saw this chair at a Design Within Reach showroom while visting Austin for SXSW 2008. Between its popularity at DWR and all the various knockoffs available, I know it’s a bit overdone. But I am a sucker for bent plywood.

DSW or DFSW ‘Dowel’ Side Chair

The Eames DSW is one of the more attainable chairs on this list. I really like the dowel legs and the cross-bracing. The chair is available in a few variations including fiberglass and plastic. This is another chair where numerous knockoffs abount.

Hee Welling for HAY

About a Lounge 82

There are a lot of similaries between this chair and the CH71, and that’s okay. I like them both. This chair was designed in 2009 and surely pays homage at least in part. This is a lower back model and I really like the fabric selection too.

About a Lounge 92

This is the high back version of the About a Lounge series. All things being equal, I think I prefer the low back 82 a little better, but this is a closer runner-up.

Carina Maria for FDB Møbler

L32 Suru Lounge Chair

If I had to pick only one chair from this list, it would be the L32 Suru by Carina Maria. It combines Japanese and Danish design principles perfectly. I would have a hard time selecting an upholstry color. I would probably end up with the gray, but really enjoy the blue toned upholstry as well.

Fritz Hansen

Egg Lounge Chair

The Egg is another iconic chair. This one is a little out there, but it looks really comfortable!

Swan Lounge Chair

The Swan is a little less out there, and also looks comfortable. I was able to confirm this during a recent stay at the Radisson Collection Royal Hotel.
